Claret Bumble Wet Fly

Catalogue No: 852
It is suggested that the Bumbles' origins date back to Derbyshire in the 1500's when the fly was attached to a horsehair line. The fly when first alighting on the water was fished as a dapping fly, which slowly sank and fished as a wet hackle fly. It is very successful and has therefore has survived in fly boxes for more than 500 years. The palmered hackles mimic insect legs movement on the surface film.

Request a fly, size or option

We work closely with our fly tyers and can tie most patterns to order: a different hook size, barbless instead of barbed, a tungsten bead instead of a gold head; just ask.

Sending a request is free and you are not committing to buy. Depending on where we are in our tying cycle it can take a month or two for a pattern to arrive, and we may not be able to tie every request (fair usage applies); but if we can, we will.

Sign in first and we'll pre-fill your email and keep the request with your account.
