Rat Faced McDougall Dry Fly

Catalogue No: 946
The Rat Faced McDougall is one of the best flies for rough water. It is an excellent attractor and dropper indicator. Originally called the Beaverkill Bastard it's name was changed when a young lady visitor asked the name of the fly Harry Darbee was tying. Not wishing to embarrass her, he asked her to name the fly, which brought forth the suggestion Rat faced McDougall and it has been called that ever since.

Request a fly, size or option

We work closely with our fly tyers and can tie most patterns to order: a different hook size, barbless instead of barbed, a tungsten bead instead of a gold head; just ask.

Sending a request is free and you are not committing to buy. Depending on where we are in our tying cycle it can take a month or two for a pattern to arrive, and we may not be able to tie every request (fair usage applies); but if we can, we will.

Sign in first and we'll pre-fill your email and keep the request with your account.
